The Jhumur Naach is a dance performed by the women of Satjelia, a village located in the Gosaba block in the South 24-Parganas district of West Bengal. These women, who are mostly married, are engaged in various occupations such as agriculture, fisheries and so on.
It is generally surmised that this dance is the original form of the dance that is now a popular folk dance in Purulia district of West Bengal, as well as in Assam.
