Description

Jhapan Utsav or Jhapan Mela is a very popular festival celebrated in Bishnupur, Bankura.  Held on the last day of the Bengali month of Sravan (mid-August as per the Georgian calendar) this festival is primarily held in honour of the serpent deity Manasa by the tribal people of Bankura district.
